Best of the Rest

Showing off the innovation and diversity that the great city of Leeds has to offer.

Leeds is a great city for mutual support, and we want to celebrate creativity, with an eye for the pioneering, in whatever it’s forms. Here are a few things happening around the city before, during and after L19.

Transform

Transform Festival runs from 26th April-4th May, celebrating powerful performance from all over the globe. This biennial festival brings some of the most urgent and powerful performance from across the world to Leeds, with takeovers by both local and international artists, citywide. Transform reimagines theatre; what it is, what it can be, and what it can do, to answer some of the burning questions facing our society and our world.

Live At Leeds

This metropolitan music festival was taken under the umbrella of Leeds International Festival two years ago, but has run since 2007. Featuring hundreds of bands, performers and artists scattered across loads of venues, LAL is place to see stars on the up. Ed Sheeran played a 100 capacity room at the Cockpit back in 2010, and this year he returns to perform on Roundhay Park, to a possible capacity of 70,000! LAL also heralded the meteoric rise of artists like Bastille and Rag ‘n’ Bone Man on their way to the top. LAL have just announced 80 more gigs, including names like Kate Tempest and Mini Mansions alongside already-released names like Metronomy, Sundara Karma, Black Honey and Dream Wife.
