Experience

Altered Ocean is an exhibition and installation. On a replica beach, an installation of Mandy Barker’s beautiful photographs captures the invasion of manmade plastic objects and particles into the world’s great blue depths. The objects captured in her sometimes abstract and ethereal shots are all waste detritus which was recovered by Mandy when visiting the world’s oceans.

Altered Ocean will intrigue and then shock, as we realise that the visually attractive images on display are made up of destructive plastic pollutants. Illustrating the shocking facts through photography, Altered Ocean documents the critical issue of plastic pollution in our marine environments today.
