Walk Off The Earth

Walk Off The Earth walked into our lives with their cover of Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used To Know”, a stripped back cover of the hit song in which five band members crowd around one guitar, using it percussively as well as for its strings. They continued their pared-back style in other covers, using mundane, household objects such as a mug full of spoons or Tupperware full of crisps to emulate the expensive studio production of the originals.

Their Gotye cover has now been watched a staggering 181 million times. They have continued with their innovative covers and zany videos of famous chart-toppers, and will be performing at Leeds’ O2 Academy in May as part of the European leg of their world tour.

With over 2.9 million subscribers, this Ontario-based band have truly graduated from YouTube sensation to band in their own right, taking their followers with them. Their recent cover of Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You” has already had over 13 million views.

The band’s original hit, “Fire In My Soul” was certified gold in Canada and is one of only a select collection of singles to be released globally by Universal Music Canada.
