LIFI22 – Mental Health – What we learned

With mental health being such an important topic right now, our panel of speakers gave a powerful discussion that brought together individual experiences and options for support.

Key takeaways:

It may take more than just talking for mental health in the country to improve; structural change is also necessary.

Political appetite for addressing the problems with mental health must improve.

Sometimes, you just need to put the handbrake on, utilise support available and take a step back. Overtime, you might find what’s right for you in terms of help.

Further support:

If you or someone you know is in mental health crisis and needs medical help fast:

  • Ring 999 to contact emergency services
  • Go to your nearest A&E department

If it is not a medical emergency and you still need help:

  • Ring 111 for professional help advice and guidance on where to access appropriate health services – available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year
  • Make an appointment with your GP
