Screentalk: Francis Lee and Diarmid Scrimshaw
Leeds International Festival and Screen Yorkshire were delighted to present this screentalk with two of Yorkshire’s most exciting filmmakers: Writer / Director Francis Lee and Producer Diarmid Scrimshaw from Inflammable Films.
Francis returned to his Yorkshire homeland fresh from showcasing the feature God’s Own Country at leading film festivals around the globe. Hailed by a leading film critic as ‘A British Brokeback Mountain… but better,’ God’s Own Country picked up some of the most prestigious awards on the international film festival circuit that year.
Held at The Vue Cinema in The Light Leeds, the Screentalk event drew an audience keen to hear Francis and Diarmid talk about the journey from script to screen with the project. Diarmid executive produced God’s Own Country and Journeyman, also shot in Yorkshire.
The talk was followed by an exclusive screening of feature film Tyrannosaur, filmed in Leeds, directed by Paddy Considine with backing from Screen Yorkshire, and sneak preview clips of God’s Own Country alongside Francis’s short film The Last Smallholder.
