The Unconference - Leeds International Festival

The Unconference

Leeds International Festival 17

The Unconference is the largest free music-industry event in the North of England, aimed at those working in, or aspiring to work in, the music industry – as an artist, producer, manager, promoter, or enthusiast.

Held across Leeds College of Music and The Wardrobe, the L17 event featured artist and industry keynote speakers as well as panel discussions from a range of individuals working in radio, events, live music, A&R and more.

Running annually for nearly a decade, The Unconference IN L17 was supported by Leeds Beckett University and PRS For Music Foundation. The packed programme delivered a wealth of information, including how streaming is impacting the music industry and the need to diversify revenue for music businesses.

Presentations from industry organisations such as PRS For Music Foundation, Arts Council England, Association of Independent Music, and Come Play With Me, revealed insightful industry knowledge, while meet-the-expert sessions, a workshop on self- employment, and a Spotify Artist & Managers Masterclass concluded things neatly.

In 2017, representatives from PRS, Beggars Group (XL / 4AD), Utah Saints, Temples and Kilimanjaro Live made it a day to remember.
