LIFITV Episode 3: Roman Kemp and Amy Irons on why we need to talk about suicide
Most of us would rather talk about almost anything else. That’s partly the point. Silence around suicide is one of the things that makes it so hard for people to reach out, and so hard for those around them to know what to say.
On Wednesday 7 October, Amy Irons hosted a conversation at Leeds Playhouse on suicide prevention with Roman Kemp, who has spoken openly about losing his friend and colleague Joe Lyons, alongside Professor Rory O’Connor and Andy Airey MBE of 3 Dads Walking. It was one of the most moving evenings of LIFI26, and one of the ones people were still talking about in the foyer long after it finished.
Not long after the lights went up, Roman and Amy joined us for the third episode of LIFITV.
What is LIFITV?
LIFITV is our behind-the-scenes series from LIFI26. Throughout the festival, our team ran a pop-up studio at Leeds Playhouse, catching speakers, hosts and audiences in the moments either side of the main event. The result is a run of short, unpolished conversations you won’t have seen anywhere else.
Episode 3 is out now on the LIFI YouTube channel, with more episodes rolling out over the coming weeks. Subscribe so you don’t miss them.
